Committees
Volunteering with a PTA committee is great way to support your child's education and connect with other parents in your community. If you're interested in a committee complete our volunteer interest form below.
Beginning of Year Coordinator - Committee Chair will coordinate with school staff and plan a welcome to Hawk Ridge playdate for any new student entering Hawk Ridge. Playdate will occur a week or two prior to the start of school. Will also coordinate open house logistics.
Sweetheart Dance - Committee chair recruits and organizes volunteers for the school dance. These volunteers coordinate the event by selling tickets in advance and setting up and decorating the gym in preparation for the dance.
Sunshine - Committee chair is responsible for acknowledging teacher and staff birthdays, births, deaths, and any other special occasions.
Nations Ford - Committee chair will work closely with Nations Ford school counselors to determine needs. Will also oversee organizing Angel Tree which we do in conjunction with Nations Ford.
Hospitality - Committee chair will provide snacks for staff meetings (October, January, March). Committee chair will coordinate snack cart during Staff Appreciation Week. Committee chair will also be responsible for stocking the staff lounge.
5th Grade Planning Committee - Committee chair is responsible for planning and organizing the end of year trip, party, and events for the 5th grade students.
Dine and Dash - Committee chair manages securing, scheduling and marketing of our monthly dine-out nights at local restaurants.
Field Day - Committee chair is responsible for working alongside the PE teacher to coordinate and plan field day. Will organize and recruit volunteers for the event.
Hawk Fest - Committee chair is responsible for putting together a committee of volunteers to organize and run Hawk Fest.
Health Room - Committee chair is responsible for making sure the nurse and health room have what they need throughout the year.
Staff Appreciation - Committee chair is responsible for planning and organizing staff luncheons, stocking staff restrooms, and SAW (staff appreciation week).
Lead Class Parent Coordinator - Committee chair is responsible for signing up, training, and communicating with the lead volunteers for each classroom. They collect information from interested volunteers and organize it for the lead grade parent. The committee also sends out reminders to the lead grade parents about teacher hospitality lunches and special events.
Book Fair - Committee chair will work with the Media Center Specialist, committee members, and vendor to plan two book fairs per year - one in the fall and one in the spring.
Yearbook - Committee chair will take pictures throughout the school year, work with Josten’s to compile the yearbook, taking yearbook orders, and distributing yearbooks. Committee members need to be available to take pictures at school events and to take class photos.
PTA Membership - Committee chair will coordinate and conduct membership drive. Upon completion of the membership drive, continue to promote membership sales, and manage the processing. Update membership on the NCPTA website.
Pay4SchoolStuff (P4SS) - Committee chair is responsible for updating the school’s Pay4SchoolStuff site throughout the school year. This will include updating teacher classrooms, PTA purchases, and additional account information for the PTA. Committee chair will also run monthly reports.
Lost & Found - Committee chair is responsible for taking care of all clothing left at the school. The clothes are hung and left for a couple of weeks in the lost and found area and then donated to a charity.
Front Entrance & Bulletin Boards - Committee chair is responsible for updating and maintaining various school bulletin boards throughout the year.
Spirit Wear - Committee chair oversees the sale of Hawk Ridge Elementary clothing and merchandise. They are responsible for tracking inventory, distributing order forms, collecting orders, sorting merchandise and apparel, and setting up booths to sell merchandise whenever there is a PTA function or meeting at the school.
