Committees

Volunteering with a PTA committee is a great way to support your child's education and connect with other parents in your community. If you're interested in a committee, complete our volunteer interest form below.

Beginning of Year Coordinator - Committee Chair will plan a welcome to Hawk Ridge playdate (Popsicle playdate) for rising kindergarteners and any new student entering Hawk Ridge. Playdate will occur a week or two prior to the start of school. Will also coordinate open house logistics.


Book Fair - Committee chair will work with the PTA Board, Media Center Specialist, and vendor to plan two book fairs per year, one in the fall and one in the spring.


Bulletin Board - Committee chair is responsible for updating and maintaining various school bulletin boards throughout the year. 


Dine and Dash - Committee chair manages the securing, scheduling, and marketing of our monthly dine-out nights at local restaurants.


Field Day - Committee chair is responsible for working alongside the PE teacher to coordinate and plan field day. Will organize and recruit volunteers for the event.


5th Grade Planning Committee - Committee chair is responsible for planning and organizing the end of year trip, party, and events for the 5th grade students.


Hawk Dads - The Hawk Dads' committee chair is responsible for organizing Hawk Dads carpool on Thursday and Friday mornings and other volunteer activities for the Hawk Dads group. Committee runs the morning carpool on Thursdays and Fridays. 


Hawk Fest - The Committee chair is responsible for organizing and running a committee of volunteers to organize and run Hawk Fest.


Health Room - Committee chair is responsible for making sure the nurse and health room have what they need throughout the year.


Hospitality - Committee chair will provide snacks and beverages for staff meetings (October, January, and March). Committee chair will coordinate snack cart during Staff Appreciation Week and be responsible for stocking the staff lounge quarterly. 


Lead Class Parent Coordinator - Committee chair is responsible for signing up, training, and communicating with the lead volunteers for each classroom. They collect information from interested volunteers and organize it for the lead grade parent. Chair sends reminders to the lead grade parents about teacher hospitality lunches and special events.


Lost & Found - Committee chair is responsible for managing clothing found at the school. The clothes should be hung, or folded in the lost and found area, and then donated to a charity if they are not claimed by the end of the quarter.


Nations Ford - Committee chair will communicate with the Nations Ford school administration and counselors. Will organize Angel Tree. The chair will also coordinate a SAW breakfast or luncheon. 


PTA Membership - Committee chair will coordinate and conduct a membership drive.  After completing the membership drive, continue to promote sales and manage the roster. 


Spirit Rock - Committee chair is responsible for creating & maintaining the Spirit Rock sign-up and responding to inquiries regarding reservations. 


Spirit Wear - The committee chair oversees the sale of spirit wear and merchandise. They are responsible for tracking inventory, distributing order forms, collecting orders, sorting merchandise, distributing merchandise, and setting up booths to sell merchandise whenever there is a PTA event where spirit wear is sold. 


Sunshine - Committee chair is responsible for acknowledging teacher and staff birthdays, births, deaths, and any other special occasions.


Staff Appreciation - Committee chair is responsible for planning and organizing staff luncheons, stocking staff restrooms, and SAW (staff appreciation week).


Sweetheart Dance - Committee chair plans the dance with a team of volunteers and sets up and decorates the gym/cafeteria in preparation for the event.


Yearbook - Committee chair will take pictures throughout the school year, work with Josten to compile the yearbook, take yearbook orders, and distribute yearbooks. Committee members must be available to take pictures at school events and class photos.
